The Prudhoe branch joins 129 other sites across the UK being sold to the supermarket giant.

Co-op has said the sale of its non-core petrol forecourt business will allow it to focus on "core convenience."

2) Consett man Mark Shield missing

Durham Police issued an appeal to help find the 37-year-old.

3) The Ship Inn closes in Wylam

A licensee is currently being sought to reopen the pub which was taken over just two months ago.

The pub, which also has rooms, is popular with tourists and locals alike.

4) Prudhoe man completes four back-to-back half marathons

Andrew Bruce ran from his home to the Great North Run (GNR) start line in Newcastle, before completing the 13.1-mile course to South Shields, only to turn back and do it all again.

The 52.6-mile challenge took him 11 hours 39 minutes.

5) Prudhoe Coldstream Guard at King Charles III's Proclamation at St James's Palace

18-year-old Liam Potts was among 20 others to officially welcome the new King Charles.

He is due to play a part in the Queen's funeral.

6) The Manors in Prudhoe reports suspicious behaviour

The assisted living facility said a "suspicious character" was noted by on-site staff.

When the police attended, "the man was no longer present."

8) Fire at Jewson in Stargate, Ryton

Black smoke billowed out of the woodyard across the A695, which runs between Blaydon and Hexham, and could be seen for miles around.

Fire services said it was not believed to have been started deliberately.

9) A69 blocked at Brockbushes roundabout 

A lane was blocked after a heavy goods vehicle broke down.

The incident caused delays due to rush hour traffic.

10) Wylam man raises funds for Bowel Cancer UK after being inspired by Dame Deborah James

Richard Simpson was diagnosed last July.

He urged anyone with symptoms to get checked out ahead of a fundraising event at the Fox and Hounds pub.
