SUSPICIOUS behaviour was reported by an assisted living facility early Wednesday morning.

The Manors in Prudhoe posted the following statement on Facebook: "During the early hours of this morning, a suspicious character was noted by our on site staff team and caught on our CCTV system wandering around the front of our building and peering through the windows and doors.

"This has been reported to the Police, and they are investigating the incident.

"We wanted to make you aware in case you also saw anything and wanted to make the Police aware," the post said.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 2.40am on Wednesday (September 7) we received a report of a man acting suspiciously in the Adderlane Road area of Prudhoe.

"Officers attended and carried out a full search of the area, but the man was no longer present."

County councillor Gordon Stewart said: "Crime and anti-social behaviour is at a low level in Prudhoe, I would ask that if anyone has information in relation to this or any other crime they contact the Police.

He added: "I am in contact with the Police and understand additional resources have been directed to the area. If anyone has any dashcam or door bell recordings they are asked to check it as soon as possible."
