The battle against drug addiction of Libertines frontman, Pete Doherty, has been highlighted in a documentary directed by his wife, Katia De Vidas.

'Pete Doherty: Stranger In My Own Skin' details the rockstar's descent into addiction.

Including footage filmed over a span of 10 years by De Vidas, the 91-minute documentary includes unabridged scenes of drug-taking and intimate moments during Doherty's struggle for sobriety.

Born in Hexham, Doherty has previously served a two-month prison sentence and battled addiction to crack and heroin.

Doherty, who now has four years of sobriety under his belt, revealed that he finds more inspiration when he's calm and reflective.

Pre-show rituals help Doherty maintain his composure, involving a plunge into a freezing bath of water and subsequent relaxation exercises.

Doherty and De Vidas, also his Puta Madres bandmate, currently reside in France having left his wild ways behind.

Doherty attributes his drug-free life in-part to French musician Frédéric Lo.

Lo played 'Inutile Et Hors D'usage' to him in early 2020, a song that reportedly served as a catalyst to his recovery.

Doherty, a father of three, welcomed his first child, Astile, with singer Lisa Moorish in 2003.

His second child, Aisling Erin, was born to model Lindi Hingston in 2011.

Doherty and De Vidas welcomed Billie-May, Doherty's third child, last year.

The couple married in a private ceremony in France in September 2021 where their respective bands, The Libertines and Puta Madres, performed.

The announcement of De Vidas' pregnancy was made public during a show in Strasbourg in December 2022.

Before his relationship with De Vidas, Doherty was romantically linked with supermodel Kate Moss.
