HUNDREDS of pounds were raised in a charity car wash and open day held at a community fire station.
Ponteland Community Fire Station held the car wash and Station Open Day on Saturday, March 18.
£411 was raised for The Firefighters Charity in just three hours.
Callum McDougall, watch manager at the fire station, said: “The open day is where we invite the public in to have a look at what we do as a Fire Service."

“They can look around the station, appliances and equipment. We also have some VR headsets that simulate a car crash. We, as a crew, pass on the fire safety in the home and road safety message.”
The firefighters charity supports all serving and retired members of the UK's fire family to live healthier and happier.
It supports firefighters' mental and physical health, and provides nursing and retirement aid.
