FOUR North East musicians will perform at a university student-led concert.
Newcastle University music students have organised a concert showcasing the talent of four up-and-coming artists, who will perform at Tynemouth Surf Cafe in March.
Tipped For ‘23 will be headlined by indie newcomer Michael Gallagher, with performances from BBC Introducing backed singer and songwriter Eve Cole, and Hexham-based artists Chris Kelly and Dean Parker.
Chris is an indie-folk songwriter and guitarist inspired by the likes of Tom Petty, Brian Fallon and John Mayer.

After touring the UK in 2018, his debut EP ‘Letters To You’ was awarded Midweek Music Club’s EP Of The Year award, and his 2021 single ‘When It Rains’ reached #76 on the iTunes singer and songwriter chart.
Dean is a singer and songwriter influenced by musicians including Jason Isbell, Jeff Buckley and Jackson Browne.
He started his solo career and released his debut EP in 2022 ‘This All Tastes Like Yesterday’, and also toured across the US.
Eve is an 18-year-old singer and songwriter who won the 2022 Alan Hull award and is emerging in the North East music scene, being named a BBC Introducing Tips For 2023 artist.
Indie newcomer Michael has collaborated with producer Chris McManus at Blank Studios, putting the finishing touches to his debut album which aims to bring his guitar-driven pop to a wider audience.
The university students are bringing the artists together to organise and promote a musical event as part of a music-business module on their degree courses.
Organiser Thomas Carney commented: “Having experience in gigging, writing and recording with various local emerging bands, I realise the importance of providing a platform for which up-and-coming artists can perform. I am delighted to offer this opportunity to four local talents, and believe the Surf Cafe is the perfect venue for our intimate, unplugged gig."
Tipped For ‘23 takes place on Tuesday, March 7 at Tynemouth Surf Cafe, with doors opening at 6.30, and music starting from 6.45.
The cafe and music venue is situated on Grand Parade Tynemouth overlooking Longsands beach.
