The concert is a programme of baroque and traditional music for violin. It sets works by Bach (an arrangement of the famous Toccata and Fugue that featured in Disney’s Fantasia) and his Italian contemporary, Giuseppe Tartini, alongside music by other composers of the period.

She will perform various traditional Celtic and English tunes.

Joan Peugniez, chair of the society, said: "It’s a real coup for us to bring a musician of Rachel’s stature to Hexham. She is much in demand, working with orchestras and ensembles worldwide, including our very own Royal Northern Sinfonia. She has had a residency at London’s Wigmore Hall and is the driving force behind the hugely popular Brecon Baroque Festival. Our audience will be amazed by her artistry."

Tickets are on sale now at the Queen's Hall box office.
