The Tchaikovsky quartet is framed by Mozart’s last string quartet and Shostakovich’s fifth in a typically eclectic programme put together by this exciting young quartet.

“The Dudok Quartet is rapidly gaining a reputation as one of the most creative and versatile quartets of its generation,” said Joan Peugniez, chair of the society. “With their experience of playing some of the most celebrated concert halls in Europe, it is a privilege to be able to welcome them to Hexham.”

Playing a repertoire that extends from the 15th and 16th century to the present day, the quartet has won awards at several international chamber music competitions and attracted five star reviews for many of its recordings.

The Telegraph described its 2021 release of Brahms quartets simply as a ‘marvel’.

The Dudoks’ 2022 recording of the Shostakovich quartet being played in Hexham won high praise in the Observer and the BBC Music Magazine, whose reviewer wrote of their performance being ‘impressive (and) projecting tremendous power’.
