The concert, which is Hexham and District Music Society’s first of the year, starts at 3pm.

Bradley has been hailed a ‘regional treasure’ by Sage Gateshead, following his long and successful career as leader of the Royal Northern Sinfonia since 1984.

In 1987 Bradley moved to London to lead the Philharmonia, maintaining his relationship with the Sinfonia and making guest appearances, notably as soloist with them in the 1989 BBC Proms playing The Lark Ascending.

Margaret is a distinguished international pianist who has appeared as a soloist with all the UK’s major orchestras and made many critically acclaimed recordings.

“This concert is one of the highlights of our 2022 and 2023 season,” said Joan Peugniez, chair of the society. “We’re thrilled that Bradley and Margaret are playing for us, and bringing such an attractive programme with them. There’s something for everyone – early Beethoven, late and noble Elgar, folk dances by Bartók and Dvořák’s exquisite Romance. It will be a memorable evening.”

Bradley was appointed Leader Emeritus of the Royal Northern Sinfonia in 2019.

He was awarded an MBE for services to music in the 2021 New Year honours list, and his playing and infectious personality captivate audiences wherever he performs.

International Piano magazine wrote of Margaret Fingerhut: "One of the most radiantly musical of pianists, she plays with such alluring sensitivity and effortless command that one cannot help but be won over."

Hexham and District Music Society dates back to 1950 and now attracts both high-profile, international artists and rising young stars.

There have been performances by leading string quartets such as the Dante, Endellion, Maggini and Vogler quartets, and by singers including James Gilchrist, Mark Padmore and Kitty Whately.

Other visitors have included Divertimenti, the Gould Piano Trio and violinist Alina Ibragimova.
