A HEXHAMSHIRE man has been banned from the roads after he admitted drink-driving.
Michael Rix, 58, drove a black Vauxhall on Back Road, near Dukesfield, on December 22.
A breathalyser test showed Rix had 81mcg of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35mcg.
He pleaded guilty to the offence at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on Thursday (January 19).
Rix, of St Helens Gate, Steel, was disqualified from driving for 16 months. This will be reduced to 16 weeks if he completes a drink-driving rehabilitation course.
He was also ordered to pay a £150 fine, court costs of £85 and a £60 victim surcharge.
