EMPLOYERS have encouraged residents from across Northumberland to attend an MP's Tynedale Jobs Fair.

Guy Opperman's event will be held on Thursday, October 20 from 10am to 2pm at the Wentworth Leisure Centre in Hexham.

The event sponsors include EGGER, Vattenfall, BAM Nuttall and Northumbrian Water, who encourage residents to attend to discover vacancies and opportunities on offer at the fair.

Mr Opperman said: "More than 70 employers are coming, the fair is massive with all manner of jobs from full time to part time. Huge thanks to our sponsors.

"With thanks in particular to Chris and his team from our local Job Centre in Hexham. The Jobs Fair takes months of planning but is a game changer for employers and employees and students," Mr Opperman added.

Chris Howard, from Hexham Jobcentre, said: "This is the seventh Tynedale Jobs Fair I have organised in partnership with Guy Opperman MP - which is greatly supported by local employers.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for people who are out of work or needing additional hours to meet the recruiters in person. Also, I welcome our Ukrainian friends to come and meet the employers."

Matt Bacon, senior project manager at Vattenfall, said: "Vattenfall's goal is to enable fossil fuel free living within a generation and our skilled staff in our Hexham office are playing a vital role in helping us to achieve this.

He said: "Our organisation has a strong connection to Northumberland through our Ray Wind Farm and our office at Hexham. We look forward to meeting people at the Tynedale Jobs Fair and discussing the diverse range of jobs and career pathways available within the growing renewable energy industry."

Erin Price, Northumbrian Water Head of Talent and Training, said: "We're proud that, as one of the biggest employers in the North East, we were named again this year as one of the UK's Best Workplaces.

"We're always looking for the right people to join our team and so we're delighted to support this fantastic event," she added.
