1. MP Guy Opperman and Northern Powergrid hold community meetings

HEXHAM MP Guy Opperman and Northern Powergrid have held a public meeting this week with local community groups and parish councils to prepare for future storm events.

Parish and community representatives from Allendale, Haydon Bridge, Hexham, Humshaugh, Newbrough, Hexham shire, Slaley & Great Whittington attended the meeting.

2. Slaley mum set to run the London Marathon for Action Medical Research

A TYNEDALE mum-of-four is set to run the London Marathon on Sunday.

Naomi Hunter, who lives in Slaley, is raising money for Action Medical Research, a charity that focuses on funding research to prevent and treat disease and disability in babies and children.

3.Wylam roadworks blasted by publicans

PUBLICANS in Wylam have blasted road closures that saw the village's Main Road blocked.

Diversions were put in place by Northern Gas Networks as major gasworks were carried out during the summer school holiday period.

4.Mencap event held at Torch Centre Hexham

A COMMUNITY event will bring together service providers in health and social care and education to support the wellbeing of adults with differing needs.

The Mencap Showcase Event is on October 1 at the Torch Centre in Hexham.

5.British Wool seeks county representatives

BRITISH Wool is inviting sheep farmers to play a role in its future by standing in its regional committee elections.

The organisation collects, grades and markets wool collectively on behalf of its 35,000 sheep farmer members. Its governance structure includes 81 farmer-elected county representatives across nine regions with all regions up for election this year.
