A COMMUNITY event will bring together service providers in health and social care and education to support the wellbeing of adults with differing needs.

The Mencap Showcase Event is on October 1 at the Torch Centre in Hexham.

It will support those who chose to live independently with support, as well as people with learning disabilities to access activities in the community.

It will also support mainstream school, college and university leavers looking for career progression or volunteering opportunities in these sectors.

Short taster style workshops have been arranged throughout the day by Cycling Minds, Core Music and Minerva Arts Centre.

A raffle will be held and there will also be a sale of Christmas items. Funds raised will go towards an activity open to those with learning disabilities.

The event, which runs from 10-3pm, is being supported by Sharren Batey, Mencap's area operations manager for the Hexham area.

Mencap supports people living with a disability, their families and carers.
