A CHOIR has made its long-awaited return after the pandemic saw activity stopped.

Members of Tynedale Community Choir, led by Kathryn Davidson, marked the occasion by singing with the dawn chorus at Hexham bandstand.

The choir sings for the joy of singing and welcomes people of all abilities.

"The birds sang, a few early risers enjoyed the spectacle, and the band of singers went on to enjoy croissants and bacon butties at Hexham Community Centre", a spokesperson said.

"It was a welcome return for the choir after their May morning sing was abruptly and sadly stopped by the pandemic.

"The early risers from the choir were delighted to be singing again."

The choir meets on Monday evenings in term time at Trinity church hall from 7.30pm.

A Day of Song is planned to celebrate its 20th birthday in Hexham on June 25.
