WE decided to visit the newly opened The Garden, Hexham, and this is what we thought of the new cafe.

After running down the pathway and opening the door quickly to shelter from the rain, we were immediately greeted by the heat and smell of coffee.

We knew it was just what we needed on the cold day of Wednesday, March 13.

After walking down the hallway and entering the main room, we were immediately greeted by a smile from a staff member on the counter.

She told us what was available on the menu and what wasn't because it was the first day the cafe was open. After apologising profusely, the staff member explained that they did not want extra stress and to test the waters on their first day.

Although we were disappointed that we would not be able to try the delicious beef brisket bagel or the smoothie bowls, we nodded our heads understandably and made a note to try it in the next few weeks.

So, instead, we ordered a hot chocolate, green chai tea, and a chocolate brownie, which we were told would be brought to our table.

Now, that was a question - where to sit?

The spacious room had plenty of places to sit: a sofa, tables closer to the counter, and even outside. However, it took a little bit of time to find our spot.

After choosing a corner seat at the back of the room next to the window, we felt at ease as we entered the beautifully decorated room.

Our conversation felt easy as we waited for our order and relaxed.

Again, a smiling face approached us with our order, and we took a long sip and sighed with happiness at the taste.

Then, it was time to taste the brownie, which did not last long as it was delicious.

Sadly, it was time to go outside again as we faced the rain back to the office, but we were warmed by the hot drinks inside.

The Garden, Hexham, could be the 'place to go' for a relaxing catch-up with friends or even a brilliant place for students to study.

We look forward to coming back and tasting the menu!
