Police have confirmed a man has been arrested after a vehicle collision.

A 32-year-old man has been arreste0+ d after emergency services attended a one-vehicle crash off the A69 near Haydon Bridge.

Shortly after arriving, police found that the vehicle was abandoned. Still, after a search - a man was found nearby and was arrested.

Police suspect that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and was above the legal limit.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 11.30 am yesterday (Sunday), officers were alerted to a one-vehicle collision off the A69 near Haydon Bridge.

“Emergency services attended the scene and found the occupant of the vehicle had already left.

“A search was subsequently carried out, and a 32-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle whilst above the legal alcohol limit.

"He remains in police custody at this time.”
