BUS engineers called off a planned strike following a last-minute pay offer.

One hundred and fifty Go North East workers were due to start week-long strike action today (Monday).

The Unite union said it will ballot its members on the improved pay offer which came after last-minute talks at the conciliation service Acas.

Unite regional officer Dave Telford said: “Following last-minute talks at Acas, an improved offer was made and as a result, Unite has suspended its industrial action in order to allow its members to be balloted on the offer.”
