THE first wave of acts for one of Northumberland’s most popular music festivals have been announced.

Organisers of Lindisfarne Festival made the announcement following a successful crowd-funding campaign in November, which saw supporters of the festival raise more than £85,000 to secure its future for another year.

The over 18’s camping festival, which organisers claim is “the ultimate end-of-summer party”, will play host to a diverse line up of more than 200 musicians, comedians and performing artists over its 10 unique stages.

Now in its sixth year, Lindisfarne Festival takes place on Beal Farm overlooking Holy Island.

This year, will play host to headline act Groove Armada. The electronic duo, who take the Saturday headline slot, are famed for their chart-topping singles I see you baby and Superstylin, as well as four chart-topping albums.

Also confirmed to take to the mainstage, this time on the Friday evening will be Alabama 3, renowned for their mix of electronica, alternative rock, acid jazz, trip hop and their track Woke Up This Morning which forms the opening credits of TV series, The Sopranos.

2020 will also see the return of the much-loved Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club, who will be headlining the Thursday evening.

Conleth Maenpaa, founder of Lindisfarne Festival said: “We are beyond excited to have Groove Armada headlining our Saturday evening slot. As one of the planet’s best-loved and biggest selling dance acts, we know these guys will be a popular choice with festival goers!

“Following growing demand, we are also pleased to open our gates again on the Thursday night, giving people the chance to make a full weekend of it.

“And we don’t stop there. With so much more in the pipeline, another 100 acts are still to be announced including our Friday night headliner.

“We will continue to invest in making Lindisfarne Festival better each year, which is demonstrated most recently by our rebrand and new website.

“We will also be unveiling a new stage for this year, and as ever will have a huge range of entertainers and performing artists.

“It’s going to be another amazing weekend and we are so excited to share our plans over the coming months!”
