AN ANNUAL memorial concert will bring together talent from across the North-East.

Comedian, actor and radio presenter Steffen Peddie has again been confirmed as the host of the upcoming Forever the Beat of the Drum event in memory of popular Hexham drummer Mark Jon Bolderson.

Peddie is well-known across the region for his stand-up comedy, for starring in BBC sitcom Hebburn and for his regular slot on BBC Radio Newcastle.

The concert will run for the third consecutive year and has been organised to raise funds for the Mark Jon Bolderson Percussion Foundation.

A student of music at Birmingham Conservatoire and a bandsman of the Royal Artillery, percussionist and composer Mark’s first love was music.

At the time of his untimely passing in 2017 aged just 45, Mark was the caretaker of the Queen’s Hall.

Since his death, his family started the foundation in his name, which awards financial scholarships and helps with the costs of tuition and equipment for promising percussion students in the North-East.

Students who have been awarded scholarship prizes will showcase their development live on stage as they will feature in the concert.

They will also be joined on stage by other local talent, with the Tyne Valley Big Band, Junior Big Band and Jazz Ensemble, plus more, added to the line-up.

The event will take place at the town’s Queen’s Hall on Saturday evening.

Tickets are available from the Queen’s Hall Box Office.
