AMATEUR drama lovers of all generations will take to the stage in Stocksfield this weekend.

Members of the Stocksfield Players and the Stocksfield Junior Players will come together for a production of The Railway Children on Friday and Saturday night.

Based on the novel by Edith Nesbit and adapted for the stage by Mike Kenny, it tells the story of three sheltered children forced to move to rural Yorkshire when their father is falsely imprisoned.

The three main characters will be played by members of the junior amateur dramatics club, while there will also be a cast of adults from the adult society, the Stocksfield Players.

Stocksfield Players’ performances are always a popular night of entertainment for those coming from the village and further afield.

Their production is being directed and produced by Joy Pusey, and will be on the stage at Stocksfield Community Centre (SICA).

Usually holding separate performances, this is the first time both clubs will come together to hold a joint performance.

The performances take place at 6.30pm on both nights.

Tickets can be bought on the door or by contacting Joy on 07972 638333 in advance.
