A LOCAL wildlife artist is opening the doors of her gallery to the public to celebrate the festive season this weekend.

Describing her West Woodburn gallery as an “oasis of calm” amongst the Christmas shopping rush, Mary Ann Rogers is offering guests mulled wine and home-made mince pies whilst they browse her latest exhibition of new paintings and gift ideas, much of which have been inspired by the recent autumn colours and picturesque landscapes around Redesdale and capture the sun peaking over its hills.

Mary Ann also finds much of her inspiration through exploring the local rivers and lakes all year round as a lifelong wild swimmer.

Just a few of the animal subjects featured in her work include osprey, salmon, goosanders, otters, sheep, guinea fowl and ducks.

New gifts unveiled at the event include cotton pot bags, scarves, bone china designs, hats and jigsaws.
