TWO groups of DJs, from Alston and Prudhoe, are meeting in Hexham to put on a joint dance event.

Tynedale Function Suite at Hexham Mart will host V Force on Saturday, November 16, organised by Alston-based V-2 and Unhinged, which holds events in Prudhoe.

Paul Dyke, who will DJ on the night under his name Charlie Alpha, explained that the V-2 events had so far taken place in Alston Town Hall, with one also in Allendale, after beginning as a fund-raiser for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

After raising more than £600 for the charity, and attracting DJs from as far as Scotland including DJ Cammy, the organisers decided they would like to take their events further afield.

They made contact with Unhinged to see if they would be interested in organising a joint dance event.

He explained: “We wanted to go a bit further afield and we thought Hexham would be the ideal place.

“We are just a group of regular guys who wanted to give it a go and give other people a chance to give it a go too.

“A lot of people have been interested. I think with Donnies being closed now there is more of a need for this kind of thing in Hexham and it has been really popular.”

The line-up includes Scotty and Evolution Dance – DJs who have had spots in some of Newcastle’s nightclubs.

They will be joined by other local DJs including Biggie D, Corey C, Turbo Thomson and Djpj, and the night will also include a lighting show. The event, at the mart at Tyne Green, starts at 8pm, running until 1am, and will use the bar at the function suite.

The early bird tickets sold out fast.

However there are 300 tickets in total and organisers said they would also be available on the door on the night.

Tickets are also available to buy on the website Skiddle, alongside paper copies being placed at venues in Alston and Prudhoe.
