YOUNG visitors to Hexham’s Old Gaol are being asked to count all the skulls they can find lurking in the corners of the historic building.

The visitor attraction’s ongoing skull trail will run until November 3 with guests invited to pick up trail sheets from the welcome desk before exploring the museum on the hunt for the hidden skulls.

Once the sheet is completed, the skull hunters will be rewarded with small sweet treats.

The Hexham Skull Trail has been inspired by the gruesome history of the old gaol which has a permanent ‘skull in residence’ in the Charlton Room.
