HEXHAM’S literal underground venue is launching a new comedy night this weekend.

Box to Box Comedy is set to take place for the first time at The Vault on Saturday.

The new stand-up night is set to become a monthly feature for the venue, which is located on Hallgate.

Organisers have lined up a stellar line-up of local comedians for the evening.

The stand-out stand-up on the night is Seymour Mace, known for his portrayal of Steve on BBC 3 comedy Ideal and BBC 2’s Hebburn as Eric. A former clown, Seymour was a finalist in the So You Think You’re Funny competition at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2001, and was nominated for the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2015.

He is joined on stage by Omar Abid, a regular face at the Stand in Newcastle who has also been part of weekend shows at the Comedy Store, Manford’s Comedy Clubs, Catch 22, and Big Mouth Comedy around the country.

Also performing is Sam Mayes, an emerging talent from the North-East. The night is hosted by Geordie comic Si Beckwith, a sketch writer and performer on BBC Newcastle’s Grin Up North show.
