ONE of the district’s tastiest running events is set to attract more than 200 competitors to Ovingham on Sunday.

For those taking on the Tynedale Jelly Tea Race will feast on bowls of fruit flavoured desert after crossing the finish line.

The 10-mile race, organised by Tynedale Harriers, will take place on a flat course, starting and finishing at Ovingham Middle School.

It will take in the area’s country roads around Bywell and Styford High Barns.

The men’s winner in last year’s Jelly Tea Race was Jordan Bell, of Blaydon-based Blackhill Bounders, with a time of 55m 11s.

It followed a close finish, with Conrad Franks, of Gateshead, in second place, and James Mather, of Heaton Harriers, in third.

Tynedale Harrier Adam Pratt earned sixth place in a race which attracted 270 runners. To enter visit
