A NORTH-EAST big band is shrinking down in size to perform at an art gallery.

Newcastle-based big band and jazz orchestra Strictly Smokin’ Big Band are well known in the region for playing at all sorts of events with up to 20 musicians.

However, they will be stripped down to a quartet of Alice Grace on vocals, Michael Lamb on trumpet, Pawel Jedrzejewski on guitar, and Michael Whent on bass to perform at the Dennis Kilgallon Art Gallery in Hexhamshire.

They will be performing an eclectic mix of tracks, from jazz and swing to funk and soul on Sunday.

The gallery will also be open.
