A LANGLEY couple are set to open their picturesque garden to the public for a fifth consecutive year.

Tom and Belinda Speir will host a fund-raising open garden afternoon at East Deanraw Farm, on Sunday, August 4.

Surrounded by wild fells, the garden is a haven for lovers of the great outdoors, with herbaceous borders, an ornamental lake, and other features.

In addition to the garden, those in attendance will have the chance to explore various stalls, offering home produce, plants, and items made from wood and glass.

Italian ice creams will be on offer, as well as a raffle, tombola, and an auction.

The event will raise money for two churches in Haydon Bridge – St Cuthbert’s Church, and St John of Beverley Catholic Church.

Tom said: “We aim to make this a lovely afternoon out for all the family, with something for everyone. There will be a competition, challenging children to find the wooden owl.”

Local musicians, The Cherry Pickers, will perform, while tea and cakes will be served at the event, which will begin at 2pm.

Tom said dog walkers would be welcome to bring their pets.
