THERE will be partying in the park as Hexham Carnival returns at the weekend.

Now in its 13th year, the event will be hosted in the grounds of the Sele and around the Bandstand between 11am and 6pm.

The musical talent the district has to offer will be showcased throughout the day, with a wide range of artists scheduled to perform. Included in the line-up is the Sublimes, Pretty Vacant, Stratosphonic, Northern Lights and Junk Yard Geordies.

Among the many stalls to be there on the day will be a local chiropractor, hair accessories, sweet and cake stalls.

Carnival secretary Glynis Bell said: “How about carnival-themed braids or do you fancy a tiger as your new face? Then we have it.

“And if its hot, then the ice cream van is the place to head.

“This is just a small selection of the stalls that will be attending, so there is something for everyone to look at and buy.

“We always run the event as a free entry event and its for all ages, young and old and old of heart .

“It will be a great relaxed afternoon to have a picnic with friends and family in the sunshine and enjoying the great atmosphere and music.”

In addition to the entertainment, Slaters Family Funfair will again bring its range of children’s rides.
