ALSTON is all set for its annual gala this weekend.

Saturday’s festivities will feature fancy dress, a fun dog show, an equine show, as well as a parade of floats and people in fancy dress.

This year’s competition for best float and best fancy dress will be judged by BBC Look North’s Colin Briggs, with the procession leaving the old primary school at 1pm.

Meanwhile, there will be entertainment on offer from the Alston Moor and Eden Dance School and the 99th Garrison, as well as the main attraction, daredevil street comedian Dangerous Steve.

The gala is free to enter and open to all.
