ONE of the country’s leading folk musicians is heading back to the town he used to dance in.

Will Pound, who has been nominated three times for BBC Radio 2’s Folk Musician of the Year Award, danced with Hexham Morris while studying in Newcastle. On Saturday, the talented musician, who has played at the Allen Valley Folk Festival, will perform in Hexham’s Queen’s Hall for the first time after including the Tynedale venue on his ‘Through the Seasons’ UK tour.

He will be joined on stage by fellow musicians Benji Kirkpatrick and Ross Grant, as well as storyteller Debs Newbold to provide an intriguing show.

Will said: “I’m pleased to be returning to Hexham because I loved the area and danced with the Morris team, and I’m looking forward to bringing this show up which should be good fun.

“The performance explores all four seasons and all areas of the UK, starting in the Cotswolds and moving to the North-West and North-East, so there’s a bit of everything for everybody really. It’s a theatre show with live music and storytelling so people can get involved, and it’s suitable for the general public not just folk fans.”
