Royal Northern Sinfonia is taking to the road again this spring and performing at the region’s beautiful churches.

As part of its mission to bring the very best in classical music to as wide an audience as possible, the orchestra is leaving its home of Sage Gateshead to perform works by Mendelssohn and Mozart across the region including concerts in Hexham and Ponteland.

The tour runs from Friday May 10 to Sunday May 12 and includes two concerts – ‘Thinking Big: Mendelssohn Octet’ and ‘Gran Partita’.

‘Gran Partita’ will showcase the orchestra’s complete wind section plus guests, focusing on Mozart’s much-loved ‘Gran Partita’, featured in the Oscar-winning film Amadeus. The concert will also include pieces by Debussy, Strauss and more. It comes to Hexham Abbey on Friday, May 10 and St Mary the Virgin in Ponteland on Saturday. All concerts start at 7.30pm.
