THE second Tyne Valley Folk Train of the year will hit the tracks on Sunday, featuring an Irish theme.

The folk train consists of a folk music session on a train from Newcastle to Hexham, which then continues at the Tannery in the town.

Traditional tunes and songs – and some more modern ones – are performed by local musicians, while guests will get the chance to sing along or even play an instrument, if they can.

Organisers had hoped to hold the event on St Patrick’s Day, but a pre-existing event at the pub means the folk train will leave Newcastle at 11.55am.
