HOUSEHOLD names in the world of entertainment have been booked for the Tyne Valley.

Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, in Hexham, is preparing for two bumper shows in the space of a month after comedy duo Cannon and Ball confirmed they will head to the town.

Their show on April 6 will be exactly one month on from a sold out performance by Australian singer and actor Jason Donovan on March 6.

Donovan found fame on Australian soap opera Neighbours alongside Kylie Minogue, and they went on to enjoy a successful music career. One of his most famous roles came when he took on the lead role in stage musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in the early 1990s.

To mark his 50th birthday, he is rolling out his Amazing Midlife Crisis Tour across the UK where he will lay bare numerous stories about his life in the limelight, intermingled with some of his most recognised songs.

Comedians Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball became household names in the 1970s and hosted the Cannon and Ball Show on ITV for close to 10 years.

Their upcoming An Audience with Cannon and Ball: Rock on Tommy! show will include recollections of their TV sketches, songs, storytelling and an audience Q & A session.

Katy Taylor, the artistic director at Queen’s Hall, said: “It’s wonderful to be looking forward to some really well-known faces visiting us at the Queen’s Hall Arts Centre over the next few weeks.

“We know our audiences will love these shows and that our visiting celebs will be charmed by a warm welcome in Hexham.”

While tickets are sold out for the Jason Donovan event, tickets for the Cannon and Ball evening are available at the box office and online.
