ASPIRING poets have the chance to learn from a world-renowned artist at a workshop in the Allen Valleys.
Manchester’s Mike Garry, who has performed at the Carnegie Hall in New York and the Sage Gateshead, is leading a workshop that will teach participants how to write a poem for performance.
The three-and-a-half hour long workshop, which takes place at Allenheads Contemporary Arts centre at the Old School House, will investigate writing techniques for performance, along with delivery and stage movement.
By the end of the day, participants will have created a piece of writing, looked at the techniques of performance, and performed their poem to a small group.
Mike, who was a librarian for 15 years before becoming a poet, aims to bring live poetry to places it wouldn’t normally reach.
Tickets to the event can be purchased via eventbrite.
