FOR the first time ever, Corbridge will be hosting its own food and drink festival to celebrate the village’s local produce.

Corbridge Food & Drink Festival will see local restaurants offer food tastings, specialist menus, live music, competitions, discounted food and live cooking demonstrations.

The festival was organised by local community group Visit Corbridge, and is led by Jen and Bob Horton of the Corbridge Larder.

Just a few of the exciting events lined up to take place include: a cocktail masterclass at the Duck House bar, apple pressing and a hog roast at the Pele Tower, a tapas night with a live performance from the Cherry Pickers at Corbridge Larder and cupcake decorating at Build-a-Bake-Cake.

Corbridge’s shops will also be getting involved by offering special discounts on all things foodie.

These include Forum Book Shop, which will be giving 20 per cent off all cook books, whilst Kitchy Retro will be knocking 20 per cent off all its kitchen ware.

BBC Look North presenter Carol Malia is also set to judge the Great Corbridge Bake-Off at St Andrew’s Church.

The festival will run from today until Sunday, October 7.
