Dan Joyce (above), who runs with Tynedale Harriers, put in a barnstorming performance over 800m at Monday evening’s British Milers’ Club fixture at Chester-le-Street to go top of the U15 rankings nationally.
His time of one minute and 59.49 (1:59.49) meant that he was the only runner at his age level to drop under two minutes this year, seeing Tynedale top of the charts as it stands.
While weather conditions weren’t ideal, he still managed to smash his previous personal best time of 2:01.3.
It was a good night all round for Tynedale with four athletes overall dipping under two minutes.
U17 runner Alex Wood (1:58.74) led the way, with Jamie Adams (1:59.55) and Adam Pratt (1:59.77) achieving the marker.
