A YOUNG football star from Barrasford has joined Carlisle United’s academy.

Samuel Davison was a key player for Hexham Porto last season, and was influential as they lifted the Northumberland FA’s West Youth Division U11 Cup in April.

The exciting forward is known for his pace and skill, and has progressed through the ranks at Hexham FC since the age of seven.

Coach Mark Gradwell said: “During his time with Hexham he has been coached by myself and Lee Milton and we have tried to challenge him and his team mates in a variety of different ways.

“Samuel has been lucky enough to play against the likes of Sunderland, Newcastle United and Carlisle academies, and caught the attentions of all of them at various stages.

“In the four years or so that Lee and I have helped to coach him, he has shown himself to be a brilliant athlete, an exciting player and a grounded young man with a great attitude.

“This will stand him in good stead for his future development and the challenges ahead.

“But I have no doubt he will make progress, and everyone at Hexham Porto wishes Samuel all of the very best on his journey.”

During a trip to play against Carlisle United’s academy team last November, Samuel was offered a trial with the club.
