PEOPLE of all ages joined in the fun as Corbridge Cricket Club officially celebrated their new, flood-proof clubhouse.

There was strong support throughout the village for the fun day, which saw four teams comprising local people take part in a friendly tournament in between entertainment scheduled elsewhere at The Stanners ground.

The event was organised by Corbridge Cricket Club to celebrate the recent completion of the new state-of-the-art building, raised 1.5m from the ground, which was built after the previous clubhouse was destroyed by Storm Desmond in December 2015.

The cricket club entered a team into the tournament to go up against teams from the Corbridge Youth Initiative, the village's Charlotte Straker Project and from the village itself.

With the assistance of the talented U13 girls, the cricket club beat a team of villagers in the final.

Away from the pitch, musical entertainment was provided by Callum Harbottle, a worker at the youth initiative, and Cramlington's Tom Wyllie.

The Rotary Club of Tynedale helped out on the day and ran stalls, with a total of £2,350 raised, to be split evenly between the cricket club, youth initiative and Charlotte Straker.
