Tynedale Rugby Football Club (Tynedale RFC) has shared details about upcoming pre-season fixtures, as well as news of two special August bank holiday weekend events.

The men's squad will play a match against Heriot’s Rugby Club in Edinburgh on August 16, followed by a home game against old foes Hinckley RFC two weeks later.

Peter Southern, director of rugby, said: "The players have worked incredibly hard so far this summer, and I am excited to see that commitment come to fruition when the season starts.

"We’re very much looking forward to welcoming people back to Tynedale when Hinckley come up in August."

Before the fixtures, Tynedale RFC will host two rugby events over the August bank holiday weekend.

On August 23, the Wooden Spoon Charity will bring its Vets Fest to Tynedale Park.

More than 400 male and female players will travel to compete in the event, which aims to raise funds for children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage.

Once the rugby is done, there will be entertainments in a pitch-side marquee, with refreshments from the Bar1876 team and a "Tynedale Beer Festival-esque Food Village."

The day after Vets Fest, the club will host the first-ever Tynedale Girls Rugby Festival.

The event, coinciding with the opening match of the Women’s Rugby World Cup between The Red Roses and the USA in Sunderland, will feature teams in the U12, U14, U16, and U18 age groups, and will begin at noon.

Tynedale RFC chief executive-elect Paul Williams said: "We are thrilled to be hosting both the Vets Fest and the Girls Rugby Festival on successive days over the bank holiday weekend.

"A special thanks to my predecessor, Harry Cornforth, for being the driving force behind the organisation of the events, and the many club volunteers he has working with him to make this event a success.

"I would like to encourage as many club supporters as possible to come down and support the events, encourage the players, enjoy the community spirit, and, in the process, raise as much money as we can for the local charities we are supporting."

Tynedale Park has already had a busy summer, including hosting the Tynedale Beer and Cider Festival and the Tynedale Sevens.

More than 5,000 people attended the beer festival, which raised more than £54,000 for local charities.

Team Blackburn won the Stu Ridley trophy following a win in the final over the Tynedale 7.

On Friday evening, Cumbria Rams won the inaugural Vets Tens, while Old School Novos claimed the Ladies Touch trophy.

Elsewhere on Saturday, BOOM Beavers were the first-ever Women’s Sevens winners at Tynedale, with Army side 3RHA from Albemarle Barracks winning the social competition.

The event will once again be staged over Beer Festival weekend in 2026.

Pre-match lunches will return for the visit of Wharfedale on September 6, and bookings are now open for lunches throughout the season.
