In Division Two of the Northumberland and Tyneside Cricket League, Corbridge (3rd) won by 38 runs at home to GEMS (2nd) to reduce the gap between them to 14pts.
After losing the toss and being put in to bat, the main contributors in Corbridge's total of 239-8 from the allotted 50 overs were Jacques Du Toit (103 from 79 balls including 9 boundaries and 4 sixes), Adam Newton 41 and Marcus Sewell 37.
In reply, Salman Ahmed (47) and Sultan Zeb (50) shared an opening stand of 92 for GEMS before wickets started to fall at regular intervals and they were eventually dismissed for 201 off the final ball of the 45th over, with most of the damage done by Chris Fowler (5-39 off 10 overs).
In Division One, Matfen moved 33pts clear of second-bottom Blaydon with a convincing win by 149 runs at Consett.
Batting first after losing the toss, they were in a spot of bother on 81-5 when No.6 Abubakar Maqsood (102 not out from 119 balls) came to their rescue and the innings closed on 224-7.
In reply, Consett slumped from 51-1 to 75 all out with Mirza Bilal Baig recording impressive figures of 6-36 off 12 overs.
In a tight finish at Alnmouth & Lesbury, the hosts won by one wicket at home to Ponteland after earlier dismissing the visitors for 158.
Alnmouth's last pair of No.4 Tom Vickers (77 not out) and No.11 Nick Denton (five not out) shared an unbroken stand of 21 to secure victory off the first ball of the final over.
After being 99-6 at one stage, hosts Stocksfield were indebted to No.8 Ryan Chamberlain (60 not out) who held the lower order together before they were dismissed for 191.
Despite the best efforts of Chamberlain (4-40 off 11 overs), visitors Whickham reached their target in the 48th over with four wickets in hand.
In Division Three, Berwick consolidated second place in the table with a last over win at Allendale and the North Northumberland team are now 61pts ahead of third-placed Ponteland.
Batting first after losing the toss, Allendale were in early trouble on 44-4 before opener Ben Litchfield (93 from 99 balls) shared a fifth wicket stand of 86 with Liam Pringle (28), and they were eventually all out for 177 with most of the damage done by James Thompson (5-35 off 12 overs).
In reply, No.3 Dominic Donaldson (42) and No.4 Elliott Keenan (59) put the visitors on track and they got across the line with five wickets in hand off the fourth ball of the final over.
In a low-scoring thriller at Benwell & Walbottle, the hosts won by eight runs against Hexham Leazes.
Put in to bat after losing the toss, opener Ashraf Rahman (41) top-scored for Benwell & Walbottle who collapsed from 79-4 to 95 all out, with the wickets shared by Alex Brown (5-28 off 9.5 overs) and Rob Hook (4-21 off 8 overs).
In reply, No.4 Lewis Holmes (38) top-scored for Leazes who collapsed from 80-4 to 87 all out.
Walbottle's bowling star as they snatched an unlikely victory from the jaws of defeat was Isaac Qaiser (4-3 off 2.4 overs).
In Division Four, Whickham 2nd XI won by 70 runs at home to their Stocksfield counterparts.
The hosts were indebted to a ninth-wicket stand of 67 between No.10 J.Brooks (45 not out) and No.7 Liam Hanna (16) having come together with the score on 119-8.
They were eventually dismissed for 196 with three wickets for Lawrie Cope and Mark Jacobs.
In reply, openers Ben Wraith (10) and Richard Boschen (55) were the only players to reach double figures as Stocksfield slumped from 106-4 to 126 all out.
In Division Six Central, Stocksfield 3rd XI recorded their eighth win of the season at home to promotion-chasing Lintz 2nd XI.
Only able to field nine players, opener Joseph Metcalf (53) top-scored for Lintz who were dismissed for 138.
Steven Page (4-25 off 9 overs) did most of the damage with the ball before scoring 41 not out after coming in at No.7.
He shared an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 73 with opener Tom Hughes (50 not out) to clinch victory in the 28th over.
In Division Five West, previous leaders Wylam lost at Riding Mill and were replaced at the top by United Stars.
Put in to bat after losing the toss at Ryton, the main contributors in United Stars total of 196-6 from the allotted 40 overs were opener Shakrukh Khan (46) and No.7 Abbas Hussain (48 not out).
Despite the best efforts of opener Sam Punn (87), Ryton still needed 22 runs for victory when the last wicket fell. Khan (3-30 off 9 overs) and Hussain (3-35 off 9 overs) proved to be the match-winners for the visitors.
Wylam were dismissed for 133 at Riding Mill, with the wickets shared between Alan Fletcher (3-35), Rory Young (2), Michael Collins (2) and Katie Smith (2).
In reply, openers Alan Fletcher (39) and Kiel Zurawlew (38) laid a solid foundation for the hosts who reached their target in the 29th over with eight wickets in hand.
There was an early finish at Newton where the hosts won by 10 wickets against Greenside.
The visitors slumped from 23-2 to 29 all out with only one player in double figures.
Local football referee Dan Taylor (5-8 off 5.2 overs) and Chris Wilkie (4-5 off 9 overs) shared the wickets before the hosts knocked the required runs in only 5.3 overs.
Callum Snowdon (50 from 50 balls) top-scored for visitors Haltwhistle, who won by 55 runs at Stamfordham.
There was then a brace of wickets for Ollie Birkett, Alfie Dodd, Philip Thompson and Dale Leadbitter as the hosts were dismissed for 85 in the 34th over.
It proved to be a day to remember at Matfen for club stalwart Ian Pilkington and son Toby in a comfortable win by 88 runs against Blaydon.
Put in to bat after losing the toss, Ian (64 from 88 balls) and Toby (48 from 61 balls) shared a third-wicket stand of 98 before the innings closed on 215-8 from the allotted 40 overs.
In reply, Blaydon were 102-5 at one stage before collapsing to 127 all out.
The wickets were shared between Raj Bagili (3-28 off 7 overs), Toby Pilkington (2), Tony Gilchrist (2) and Dan Patterson (2), while Ian Pilkington also took two catches.
Humshaugh recorded their second highest total of the season at Newbrough where they got back to winning ways against Benwell Hill.
Batting first after losing the toss, opener Rob Forster (40) and No.4 Will Moss (94) starred with the bat for Humshaugh who were eventually dismissed for 209 in the 37th over.
In reply, Will Forster (4-21 off 9 overs) and a brace of wickets for Rowan Parker helped the visitors dismiss Benwell Hill for 120 in the 35th over.
There are now only 12pts between Humshaugh (third) and Riding Mill (sixth) with seven games to play.
In Division Six West, leaders Gosforth Strikers are 17pts ahead of nearest rivals Corbridge with eight games to play after winning by 155 runs at home to Allendale.
In a high-scoring contest at Hexham Leazes, visitors Newbrough won by four wickets in the penultimate over.
Leazes No.4 Matt Ridley (86) top-scored in their total of 239-6 from the allotted 40 overs before valuable knocks from James Forster (31), Johnny Masterman (31) and James Gibbons (82) along with 43 extras saw Newbrough reach their target with eight balls to spare.
In Division One of the North East Premier League, leaders Whitburn won by 128 runs at Priors Flat against Tynedale.
Taking full advantage after losing the toss and being put in to bat, Whitburn opener Karl Turner (106) and No.3 Rufus Zampatti (85) added 204 for the second wicket before the innings closed on 284-8 after 58 overs.
The bulk of the wickets were claimed by Archie Fletcher (4-57) and Nathan Byerley (3-31)
A flurry of early wickets left Tynedale in trouble on 57-5 before No.4 Will Marrow (59) and No.9 Matthew Scott 35 not out) added respectability to the score and they were eventually all out for 156 in the 48th over.
Zampatti completed a player of the match display with figures of 5-36 off 14.2 overs.
In Division Two, visitors Tynedale 2nd XI won by 27 runs in a low-scoring contest against their Whitburn counterparts.
Batting first after winning the toss, Craig Barber (34) top-scored for Tynedale who were 80-4 at one stage before being dismissed for 114 in 35 overs.
In reply, No.3 Ben Markham (33) and No.6 Matthew Mallaby (20 not out) were the only players to reach double figures as Whitburn slumped to 87 all out, with most of the damage done by Seth Robbie (3-28 off 8 overs) and Josh Wallace (3-14 off 6 overs).
