Wallington won the prestigious Northumberland FA Benevolent Bowl for the second time in three seasons at Whitley Park, Benton last Thursday night following a comfortable 3-0 victory against AFC Newbiggin. Their goals were scored by Lewis Robson and centre forward Jordan Nellis (2), a great way for the striker to celebrate his 250th game for the club.
However, the Northern Alliance Bay Plastics Premier Division leaders were brought back down to earth 48 hours later when they lost 4-3 on the road against Haltwhistle Jubilee. An early Nellis strike was cancelled out by goals from Jordan Atkinson, Dan Kirkup and Owen Murtough before half-time. John Paxton and Nellis got Trevor Baston's side back on level terms in the second half before Kirkup headed the winner with 10 minutes to play.
Despite trailing twice, Ponteland United drew 2-2 at home to West Moor & Jesmond courtesy of goals from Lewis Suddick and Mason Stephenson, with the latter's equaliser coming in the 85th minute.
