Two Newcastle United squad members could depart St James' Park before Friday's transfer window deadline.

Isaac Hayden and Jeff Hendrick are both being linked with a move to Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday by The Star journalist Alex Miller.

The former was close to sealing a move to Luton Town earlier this week before it collapsed, and both players look unlikely to feature in Eddie Howe's plans anytime soon.

Hayden joined the Toon from Arsenal in 2016 and has gone on to make 171 appearances for the club, contributing seven goals and 10 assists.

However, he has been a victim of Newcastle's recent success and spent last season on loan with Norwich City in the second tier.

Hendrick has also struggled for game time since joining from Burnley and would make 45 appearances on loan at Reading last season as they were relegated to League One.

Howe will be keen to move on some of the fringe members of his squad before Friday's 11pm deadline, and Hayden and Hendrick look like two prime candidates to depart.

Sheffield Wednesday are certainly in need of some new additions, as Xisco's side are currently the only team in the Championship, League One or League Two without a point to their name.
