The Northern Football Alliance have confirmed Haltwhistle Jubilee will be elevated to the Premier Division for the 2021/22 season.

The Jubilee, who along with a number of teams in the region saw their league campaign stopped for a second season in a row due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will move up to the Premier Division at the first time of asking after spending just one season in Division One.

“We didn’t expect to go up so quickly but fortunately that’s three years in a row we have gone up,” said co-manager Cameron Bell.

“So it’s kind of taken us by surprise.

“Credit to all the players and all the committee and the staff for working hard on the pitch and off the pitch.

“Obviously some people might see it as fortuitous - two years in a row we have gone up on a points per game system.

“Yeah we haven’t played two full seasons but we’ve put ourselves in a good position in both seasons to go up.”

“We would have loved to have done it properly and finish the season over 30 games and coming second or winning the league but all we can say is after 10 games we had won nine and drawn one so we felt like we were sitting good.”

The Jubilee will move into the Premier Division after it was revealed Blyth Town would step up to the Northern League, meaning their place was filled by the Haltwhistle based-side.

“Obviously we’re expecting it’s going to be so much harder next year,” added Cameron.

“We are playing against teams who are established in the Premier Division and they’ve got a bigger catchment area to get players in.

The news also means the club will now go up against a number of sides in the region including former champions Ponteland and also Wallington next season in the Premier Division.
