Bardon Mill Bowes completed an unbeaten season with a 2-0 victory over local rivals Haltwhistle Railway last weekend in Division One of the Hexham and District Sunday League.

The Bowes, who have now sealed back-to-back titles, saw Rob Hayes and Jack Barker get their names on the scoresheet to seal yet another victory.

The home side, who also named Barker as their Man of the Match, ended their season having only dropped only two points throughout their 16 game campaign.

The result means the Bowes seal the title by a total of nine points over nearest rivals Riding Mill.

Following their second title in as many seasons, the team’s manager Adam Dickson paid tribute to his players.

“To go unbeaten over a full season is a good achievement at any level,” said Dickson.

“It’s testament to how committed and reliable our lads have been and they deserve the highest praise, all 20 of them.” The Railway meanwhile, who finish their campaign in sixth in the league table, named Harry Murray as their man of the match.

Also in Division One last weekend, Hexham Phoenix got the better of Prudhoe Halfway House with a 1-2 win.

Brad Rowell and Calum Armstrong hit the back of the net for the away side, with Joe Stewart being given their MOTM.

The win means Phoenix end their season just a point behind third-placed Halfway House. Josh Mottram scored for Prudhoe.

The final day of the season also saw Heddon claim their first points of the campaign with a 3-1 win over Crawcrook Fox & Hounds, with Mark Richardson and Dan Ramshaw amongst the goalscorers for the home side.

In Division Two, just a single game remained to complete the season with FC Ryton being beaten 0-5 by Michelangelos.

The final league table sees Up The Street crowned champions by a single point over Hexhamshire, with Michelangelos finishing third.
