Hexham Greens secured the U17’s West Division Cup after an emphatic 0-8 win over local rivals Prudhoe Youth Club.

Both teams went into the match on the back of winning their respective league titles and as a result, the two sides had the opportunity to make their season an even more successful campaign.

After starting the game at Kimberly Park on the front foot, Hexham were ahead after Jacob Bradley shot from inside the box following a Josh Walker corner.

The away side, who could have been ahead within the first 10 minutes had they found a better quality final ball, dominated throughout the match.

Bradley then quickly doubled the away side’s advantage – this time scoring the rebound from Alex Waters header that had hit the bar.

Another corner shortly afterwards – this time Walker scoring from it – made it 0-3 before Hexham made it four with Bradley completing his first half hat trick.

The second half saw Hexham change their formation to try and help give more support to striker Matty Kilby and it was his strike partner Dan Simpson who was the next man to get his name on the scoresheet.

His first strike saw him fire a shot across the Prudhoe goalkeeper and into the

back of the net, while he doubled his tally minutes later with a fine finish that saw him cut inside and curl a shot into the net from the edge of the box.

Their big win was completed by a rocket from Man of the match Josh Walker, with Kilby finally getting rewarded for his hard work during the match as he helped himself to the final goal of the game.

Hexham’s performance was simply too good for Prudhoe, and the Greens didn’t let the home side into the match during the 90 minutes.

The results is another victory in a fine season that has so far also seen the Greens secure the U17 Pin Point Saturday Premier League last month.

Hexham Greens U17’s will return to action against Ashington in another cup final – this time the League Cup – on Friday, June 18.

The Greens will be aiming to complete a stunning treble in the match in just over two weeks time.
