Bardon Mill Bowes secured the Division One title with a 3-0 win over rivals Riding Mill in the Hexham and District Sunday League last weekend.

The Bowes, who saw Dan Kirkup, Rob Hayes and Reece Thirtle get on the scoresheet on Sunday morning, can now not be caught at the top of the division. Jack Barker was named their Man of the Match, while Rikki Kent

was named the Riding Mill MOTM.

The top two sides in the division met with Riding Mill knowing anything but a big win would not be enough to stop the league leaders from securing their position as champions of the 20/21 season.

But the victory – the Bowes’ fourteenth win out of 15 games played so far this season – further proved why they are the team to beat in Division One.

Elsewhere, a hattrick from MOTM Josh Mottram and a strike from Brad Rogers helped third placed Prudhoe Halfway House beat Haydon Bridge Social Club 4-3.

Haydon Bridge’s MOTM Joel Pearson, who scored twice, and Aaron Hardy got the goals for the away side.

Haltwhistle Railway travelled to Heddon and walked away with the three points after a 2-4 win, while Hexham Phoenix defeated Crawcrook Fox & Hounds 3-1.

Tony Lancaster – who was named their MOTM– got twice on the scoresheet for the hosts, with Calum Armstrong also helping himself to a goal.

In Division Two, last weekend saw only one fixture take place as FC Ryton defeated Halfway House United 0-3

despite a reshuffled squad making the trip away from home.

On Wednesday evening, bottom of the table Heddon Utd Reserves are set to face sixth placed Barrasford.

Going into this weekend, Up the Street know that if they win their game against Barrasford, they will be crowed Division Two champions.
