Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has been named Premier League Manger of the Month for April.
Corbridge-born Bruce, who has gone on to lead his Newcastle side to safety in the Premier League, fought off competition from Leeds United’s Marcelo Bielsa, Sam Allardyce of West Bromwich Albion and Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the award.
The Magpies earned eight points from their four matches in April and remained unbeaten as a result.
Draws against both Tottenham Hotspur and outgoing Premier League champions Liverpool were then added to by victories against Burnley and Champions League chasing West Ham United.
Newcastle now sit 16th in the Premier League table ahead of tonight’s match against newly crowned champions Manchester City at St James’ Park.
