A brace from Rob Hayes helped Bardon Mill Bowes move five points clear at the top of Division One in the Hexham and District Sunday League.

Last weekend saw Bardon Mill face off against Hexham Phoenix and the home side going on to win the game 3-0 with captain Adam Walton also getting on the scoresheet.

Elsewhere, Prudhoe Halfway House hit seven goals in a rampant performance against Haltwhistle Railway.

A hat trick from Josh Mottram was added to by efforts from Matty Robinson, David Wansell, Dave Bransby and Man of the Match Brad Rogers to secure the big win for the away side.

Haydon Bridge Social Club were also in the goals and beat Crawcrook Fox & Hounds 1-5 on Sunday morning.

The away side, who’d beat Haltwhistle Railway by eight the weekend previously, saw Kieran Robley grab a hat trick and Aaron Hardy also score twice in the victory that saw the team move up to fourth in the league table.

Also in Division One, Wark played host to Heddon, with the home side walking away with a 2-1 win on Sunday morning.

In Division Two, league leaders Hexhamshire continued their fine season with a hard fought 0-1 win on the road against FC Ryton.

The result means the league leaders are now nine points clear of Up The Street in second, although have played three games more.

The second placed side were also victorious on Sunday after beating Halfway House United 3-2.

Another team to win in the latest round of fixtures was Michelangelos, who hit six goals in a big away win against Barrasford with the home side only managing one in response.

In the Heddon United derby, the U23 side claimed a 3-2 win - their first of the campaign, against their sister reserves side.
