Captain Thomas Cant helped Tynedale hold on to claim a narrow four run victory over Alnmouth & Lesbury in the Northumberland and Tyneside Cricket League last weekend.

Tynedale captain Cant, who had earlier hit 96 as the away side elected to bat first, then went on to take five wickets in an inspirational performance.

Elsewhere in Division One, Stocksfield were defeated by Consett by seven wickets, with the away side being unable to stop Azim Kazi who hit 105 for the hosts in his first appearance.

Stocksfield had scored 184 with Sam Beedle top scoring with 63, but it wasn’t enough to claim the win.

Division Two saw Ponteland make it two wins from their first three games as they thrashed Warkworth by 89 runs.

After a 63 from John Lumb helped them set a score of 173/6, Ponteland then bowled out the away side for just 84.

The weekend saw another mixed bag of results for our teams in Division Three, with only Stocksfield 2nds coming out victorious.

The home side were another team to claim a big win, with Benjamin Wraith and Perry Hall both batting strongly as they went on to take a 99 run win over Whitley Bay.

Corbridge, who the weekend previously beat Stobswood Welfare, couldn’t make it three wins in a row after losing to Cramlington by 75 runs.

Allendale were also well beaten on Saturday and lost out to Berwick by 58 runs after being bowled out for 124.

Division Four saw a win and a defeat for the region’s two sides, with Tynedale 2nds thrashing Bomarsund and Poteland’s 2nds losing out to Swalwell 2nds.

Tynedale saw Dan Toward and Archie Fletcher take four wickets each, while Ponteland lost their match by 31 runs.

Riding Mill lost out to Consett 2nds by five wickets in Division Five South, while Division Six saw Corbridge 2nds defeat Monkseaton 2nds by 69 runs.

Stocksfield 3rds meanwhile couldn’t bounce back from their defeat against Ryton 2nds and lost against Bates Cottages by five wickets.
