Humshaugh continued their strong start to the 2021 West Tyne Cricket League Division One season with a seven run win against Belsay on Saturday.

A close game saw the hosts bat first and set the away side 165 to win with Luke Parkinson top scoring for the side with a score of 62.

Another close match took place at Haydon Bridge, with last year’s champions claiming their first win of the season against rivals Haltwhistle in a 15 run victory.

After setting Haltwhistle 134 to win, the hosts managed to bowl out the visitors for 118 meaning the hosts claimed the win.

Also in Division One, Mitford made it two wins from two games with a two wicket win against Wylam and Stamfordham took just six overs to meet their target of 48 after earlier bowling out Matfen.

Benwell Hill also faced off against Hexham Leazes, with the away side taking the victory after the last ball of the match.

In Division Two, Riding Mill continued their fine start to the season with an impressive performance against Medomsley where Andy Watson stole the show.

The bowler took eight wickets for just nine runs as they went on to thrash the home side by nine wickets.

Allendale’s rising star Owen Forbes also continued his fine form and took one of the wickets in their match against Haltwhistle 2nds, although he couldn’t prevent his side losing by seven wickets.

Mitford 2nds chased down their 104 target to take the win against Stocksfield 4ths, Humshaugh 2nds defeated Mitford 3rds and Wark beat Hexham Leazes 2nds.
