A LEADING Tyne Valley cricket club celebrated their centenary with a match against one of the world’s most influential cricket clubs.
Stocksfield hosted the historic Marylebone Cricket Club at the club house on Monday, August 31, on a sunny bank holiday filled with celebration.
The home side fell short in their chase, falling for 165 all out, after Marylebone posted 220-6 off 40 overs, but club chairman Chris Catnach praised the spirits around the ground.
He said: “It was a really good day and we had a really nice crowd there to watch the game.
“The MCC team travelled from all over the country and played some great cricket.”
A special club centenary beer was brewed by local High House Farm brewery to also mark the occasion.
The successful side partake in the Northumberland and Tyneside League Division One.
